||Received a request from Congowatt for assistance with a
||Finally received the gas inspection certificate for
EPHomes. The Portuguese bureucracy leaves a lot to be desired
||Visited the new home, Algarleva still on site. They will
not be finished until next Thursday so I will not get my ride in the lift
until next year!
||Not a good start to the day today. Woke at 05-10hrs to
the sound of dripping water and it wasn't raining! The hot water tank was
leaking all over our stored clothing and dishes. Spent the next 3 hours
sorting out the mess.
||Well, the day finally arrived. The lift was delivered. I
honestly thought we'd seen the last of the money but low and behold it is
at the new home and installation is promised for next week. The paper
work for the gas installation still winds its way around the system
||Spent the day with Transforsul today. He spent his
time rectifying minor faults with the windows before final payment. We
have finally condescended to pay the whole sum for the supply of the lift
and now await it's delivery.
||Stairs finally complete with balaustrades and hand rails.
||Hot Tub finally delivered. Another milestone!
||The visitors left. Peace is restored
||Took us all to Monte Cheirosa. Explained to Dino at
Ronaldos the meaning of customer.
||Took us all to Tavira Island for a swim in the sea then
lunch then back home for a siesta then a surprise party. All went well.
||Harry, Ann and Grace arrived today as a surprise for
Pat's upcoming birthday. Great stunt. She had no idea. I dropped Harry and
Ann off at the front gate and they rang the bell whilst Grace and I drove
to the back gate. She was shocked to see Harry and Ann and double shocked
to see Grace.
||Well. Finally the stone on the stairs is complete. Pedro
the steel man came on Friday to measure for the bannisters but he can only
fix them +/- 15/9. No lift, no pool, no hot tub....
||Unsurprisingly for Portugal today is the third day we are
going to meet the stone mason to fit the stone on the stairs. Yes, for two
days now they've failed to turn up. You can imagine how frustrated I am.
||The good news is that the kitchen people fitted the last
doors to the kitchen - so they thought it was all complete - except that
the cream for the new doors is different from the cream on the old doors -
so we have 6 colours now instead of 2!
||The stair stone mason has cut all the stone but has yet to
finish polishing. We await the lift man's situation still.
||Well, we finally got the stone into the kitchen. Island
is almost complete. Running around providing a support service for the
kitchen fitters - plumbing, gas fitting, electrics.
||The gas inspection at the new home was carried out and
passed successfully. Now the only problem is the inspector needs a form
from the council to complete the paperwork.
||Due to enthusiasm in weed cutting I now have a bad back.
Electrical work is finshed though. The Algarleva have failed. The stair
stone mason has failed.
||Well the rash does not like Portugal. Its gone away
||Restoration work is complete. Now we can concentrate on
the new home.
||Found the lift man. After efforts to contact the company
by phone (and failing) we finally caught up with him at his house. All
we want now is for him to do as he says.
||Arrived safely in Portugal. Weather has been kind to the
house this year so restoration work should be quick.
||Arrived safely in UK. Despite concerns about us exiting
from SA due to the visa problem we passed through passport control with no
difficulties. The journey was made uncomfortable by an annoying rash on
the neck and I scratched my way to the doctors to get ointment and pills
(which worked thank ggodness)
